Curate a movie recommendation feed
@JJEnglert says Muse checks theaters and their streaming services every week and keeps a movie recommendation feed they refine with up and down votes, and @alexsusma has it keep a list on Trakt. This page shows how to set one up and check it; the feed and any ticket receipts are not shown.
What you can get
- Prepare
Genres, examples of liked and disliked titles and content limits
- Ask and review
Seed the feed with ten or so titles you liked and some you did not, each with a reason. An export from Letterboxd or Trakt saves typing.
- Check the result
A preference-based watchlist with availability references, feedback notes and an optional separately approved ticket purchase.
The source case
@JJEnglert reports training Muse on movie and television preferences, receiving a weekly feed covering theaters and streaming services they own, and using up/down votes to refine it. They describe an artifact maintained by Muse and say it can book a selected cinema ticket using a wallet and Link integration. The capture does not include the artifact, voting implementation or a ticket receipt. @alexsusma, replying to the same thread, reports having Muse build and keep their own Trakt list based on their interests, then applying the idea from another post with tweaks; the post gives no detail on the list's accuracy or how it is kept current.

What you need
You supply
- Genres, examples of liked and disliked titles and content limits
- Streaming subscriptions and theater location
- Optional showtime preferences and ticket budget
How to try it
Editorial, not from the source
- Seed the feed with ten or so titles you liked and some you did not, each with a reason. An export from Letterboxd or Trakt saves typing.
- List your streaming services, your country and your nearest cinemas, since catalogues differ by region.
- Read the first week's picks and check two or three availability claims against the service itself.
- Vote on every pick for a few weeks; short reasons ('too slow', 'more like X') help more than a bare down vote.
- For a cinema trip, approve the showtime, format, seats and total price before any ticket is bought.
What JJEnglert's feed does
@JJEnglert describes a standing setup, not a one-off list. Muse is trained on their movie and TV preferences; every week it looks at what is in theaters and on the streaming services they own and curates a feed of things they might enjoy; they review it and vote up or down to tailor it further. When they want to see a film, they say it books the ticket using its wallet via 'the link integration'. The feed is an artifact that, in their words, Muse built, updates and maintains. @alexsusma replied that they had Muse build and keep a list on Trakt based on their interests, and then asked it to copy JJEnglert's idea with some tweaks. Neither post shows the feed itself or a ticket.
Give it tastes it can use
Recommendations are only as good as the examples behind them. Titles with reasons ('liked the pacing', 'too much gore') say more than genres. If you already log films on Letterboxd or Trakt, exporting your ratings gives a ready history. Streaming catalogues change monthly and differ by country, and a title can be on a service but only to rent, so ask for where each pick is available and spot-check it, or compare with a site such as JustWatch.
Weekly votes and cinema tickets
Votes work when they are consistent. If the feed keeps offering the same kind of film, say what you want less of rather than just voting down. For cinema trips, the risk moves from a bad pick to a wrong purchase: check the cinema, date, showtime, format (standard, 3D, IMAX), seats and total price including booking fees before you approve. That the ticket booking works through a wallet is @JJEnglert's account; this page does not show how it is set up.
Open Muse to try it. That is the product's own site; this guide is not part of it.
Limits and confirmation points
Limits to confirm
- Recommendation artifact, preference dataset, availability checks and booking receipt are absent.
- Weekly updating, feedback learning and wallet integration are reported, not reproduced by this guide.
- This is an attributed community report, not reproduced by this guide. The suggested workflow and checks are editorial guidance, not a recovered conversation or guaranteed product capability.
If it goes wrong
Editorial, not from the source
- A pick says it is on your service but is not there
- Check your country and whether the title is included or rent-only, and tell the agent which so it can correct future picks.
- The feed keeps suggesting the same kind of film
- Add a reason to down votes and name a few titles you want more of.
- A ticket is offered for the wrong showtime or format
- Ask for the cinema, time, format, seats and total price in one line and approve only that.
Common questions
Can Muse make a weekly movie recommendation feed?
One user says Muse built and maintains one, checking theaters and their streaming services weekly. Another has it keep a Trakt list. Neither shows the feed itself.
Does it learn from my votes?
@JJEnglert says up and down votes tailor the feed. How much they change it is not shown, so reasons with votes are worth adding.
Can it book cinema tickets?
@JJEnglert says it books tickets using its wallet via 'the link integration'. No receipt appears; approve the exact ticket and price first.
Why does it list films my services do not have?
Catalogues vary by country and change monthly, and some titles are rent-only. Give it your country and check availability on the service.
