What is Meta Muse?

What is Meta Muse? It is Meta's personal AI agent, launched in September 2026 at muse.ai. You give it a goal or a task in chat, and it works on it with its own computer and browser, with an approval step before actions like sending email or making a purchase. This page covers what it does, how you use it, and why it is not the same thing as Meta's Muse Spark model.

What Meta Muse does

Meta's own launch post, How We Designed Muse, describes an agent that can actually get things done: it searches and navigates sites, fills out forms and completes bookings and purchases. It can also make things, such as documents, PDFs, web pages, a spending tracker or an interactive study guide.

It keeps working after the conversation ends. Once you set a goal, Muse works on a schedule and in response to events, and messages you when a result is worth surfacing. Meta's own example is catching school deadlines buried in a stream of school emails.

How the Meta Muse AI agent works

According to muse.ai, every user shares a cloud computer with their agent: a persistent, isolated Linux machine with a full browser, which you can step into at any point. You chat with Muse in the Muse app on mobile or Mac, or directly in WhatsApp.

  • You approve actions such as sending emails and making purchases before they happen, and there is an audit trail of what it has done and plans to do.
  • Logins go in a credential store Muse can't see. At checkout a one-time card number keeps your real card hidden from the merchant and the agent.
  • You connect the apps you choose, such as email, calendar and Instagram, and decide what the agent can see and do.
  • Meta says Muse conversations are not shared with its ad systems.

Meta Muse and Muse Spark are different things

The names overlap, and searches mix them up. Muse Spark is a language model: the first released by Meta Superintelligence Labs, announced in April 2026, according to Fortune. Meta Muse is a product, the agent at muse.ai. The Muse pages checked for this guide do not say which model the agent runs on, so this page does not claim one.
